The Eclipse 500 - Very Light Jet Review

Eclipse 500

The Eclipse 500 is a small four-seat business jet aircraft manufactured by Eclipse Aviation. Eclipse became the first of a new class of Very Light Jets. The Eclipse is perfect for one to two hour same day round trips. The Eclipse can seat four passengers with a two pilot crew. It is excellent for intra state charters. A perfect trip would be Van Nuys, California to Las Vegas, Nevada. The Eclipse has the ability to get in and out of the smallest executive airports. Eclipse became the first of a new class of Very Light Jet when it was delivered in late 2006. The aircraft is powered by two lightweight Pratt & Whitney Canada PW610F turbofan engines in aft fuselage-mounted nacelles.

The Eclipse features best in class performance, economics, and safety. With the ability to fly at altitudes up to 41,000 feet at a max cruise of 430 mph, all while consuming a mere 59 gallons of fuel per hour, the Eclipse is one of the most efficient twin-engine jets. It is a perfect aircraft for one to four passengers. The Eclipse is competitive to pricing to most turbo prop aircraft. An Eclipse averages around $1900 per hour. We recommend this aircraft for one to two passengers getting away for a weekend trip to Napa Valley.
